More demolition this week! The ramp demo continues – they were able to salvage the terrazzo inlay, albeit a bit broken. And they have started to open up the roof for the new clerestory. The masons are busy opening up some doorways and closing up other ones, in particular between the existing second floor and the new second floor, connecting the 2 classrooms and lounge with the rest of the building.

Now that we can walk around on the new second floor it’s easier to see some of the old details near the proscenium area at the rear of the building. We’ll be keeping as much of this as possible.

I continue to be amazed by how quickly this is all happening and how fortunate we are to have such a great team of people working on this project for us. The complexity of coordinating all the people who are involved is a major job, but Tony has it under control with the help of his very full job board. Everyone – the architects, development team, contractors – are working so hard, doing such a great job, and making this a reality for Mudflat. Many thanks to all!
